Beaver Scouts are the youngest section of the Scouting family. Their activities are based around making things, outdoor activities, singing, playing games, going out on visits, investigating nature, listening to stories, learning how to be safe and most importantly, making new friends.
Young people may join Beavers once they are 6 years old and are expected to move to Cubs when they are 8 years old. Most of the activities form part of a badge requirement. This can be a challenge badge which forms part of our Balanced Program or an Activity Badge which is of interest to the young Beavers. During the 2 years that they in Beavers they are given the opportunity to complete the Challenge Badges and be awarded the Chief Scouts Bronze Award.
We encourage the parents to become involved with the section so they can be part of the development of thier children. Yes we do see a change in them during the time they are with us. It helps with the running of the section if we have a good number of adults helping each week and if the parents move through the group with the young people everybody knows each other.
